New Orleans African American Museum Job

Job Profile
Organization: The New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserve, interpret and promote the African American cultural heritage of New Orleans, with a particular emphasis on the Treme community.
Position: Museum Educator will report directly to the Executive Director and will manage museum educational and community programs.

Responsibilities: Museum Educator will be responsible for the development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of NOAAM educational and interpretive programming and services for children and adults, both in-house and outreach.
Duties: Duties of this full-time position will involve developing programs to promote understanding of NOAAM exhibitions and collections; initiate public programs, including lectures, workshops, classes and exhibition related events; plan tours and other programs for museum visitors of all ages; develop and oversee docent program; oversee volunteers; develop outreach programs for specific audiences like public school, senior citizen and tour groups; work with interns; and encourage and facilitate use of the NOAAM by film producers, researchers and others.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (required); Masters degree highly desirable; excellent writing and organizational skills; knowledge of appropriate software; and excellent communications skills.
