National Quality Forum (NQF) is a not-for-profit membership organization, conveniently located at McPherson Square, committed to improving the quality of healthcare by setting priorities for healthcare quality improvement and standards for practice and measurement. NQF is currently seeking Interns in our Health IT department. This is an unpaid position designed for educational purposes of students in the public health field.
The Health Information Technology (Health IT) Intern will work with a mentor within the department on a project which will include a final presentation and/or paper related to the work of the department. The topic of the project can be determined jointly with the intern and the staff mentor and should be discussed prior to the intern’s start date. Once a project is agreed upon, a short description of the project or brief proposal (no more than 100 words) should be developed by the intern and submitted to the departmental management for approval.
The Intern will also perform tasks typically assigned to the project analyst including, providing support for the execution of various NQF projects, including Health IT development projects related to eMeasures; assisting with research support and technical writing on Health IT and/or eMeasures, Health IT advisory committee communications, implementation of process redesign; and providing administrative support when needed.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, graduate student in a public health related field (MPH, MPA, MBA, PhD, etc.) with at least 6 month working in a professional environment. Experience working with senior-level staff is preferred. The successful candidate will be experienced with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; possess a strong attention to detail, a personal commitment to accuracy and excellence, excellent communications and interpersonal skills and demonstrated organizational skills; must have the ability to work independently, to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, have strong writing skills and excellent follow through.
