SOCIAL JUSTICE GRADUATE INTERN 2018-2019
Multicultural Student Center
The Social Justice Graduate Intern will work closely with the Social Justice Education Specialist and Assistant Director of Social Justice Programs. This intern will be charged with facilitating social justice workshops, assisting with the development of social justice programs and events, and organizing identity based discussion groups.
Please note the MSC Assistant Director of Leadership and Involvement serves as the supervisor for the entire internship program.

Leadership and Involvement on campus
Strong writing skills and experience with communicating to large audiences
Experience facilitating social justice or diversity based workshops or trainings
Commitment to principles of social justice, equity, and inclusion
Specific Internship Responsibilities Include:
Manage the request system and scheduling for social justice workshops and trainings
Assist in the planning and facilitation of social justice workshops and trainings
Organize and plan discussion groups for various identity-based groups
Identify opportunities for collaboration with other departments, student organizations, and campus stakeholders
Assist with the marketing and promotion of Social Justice workshops, events, and programs
Collaborate with and support the undergraduate Social Justice Interns
Participate in the development and planning of Social Justice events including the Social Justice Leadership Retreat, featured Social Justice speakers, panels, and other programs
All MSC Student Intern Responsibilities’ (in addition) include:
Serve as the first contact for all MSC stakeholders (students, faculty, invited guest and organizations) utilizing the Center and other Red Gym facilities
Opening and closing the Center during the appropriate shifts.
Work on special projects as assigned by Center staff, which may include bulk mail projects, updates of reference materials, retrieving copy paper from the MSC Supply Room, developing flyers and program announcements and other duties as assigned.
Implement MSC policies and procedures as they pertain to MSC students, guests and patrons.
Participate in all MSC sponsored programs (when possible)
Interns are required
to attend a three-day training at the beginning of fall semester before starting work. Training dates will be August 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2018. MSC Social Justice Graduate Intern is paid a wage of $12.00-$15.00 hour and are expected to work a minimum of 15 and maximum of 20 hours per week. About Social Justice Education at the Multicultural Student Center:
The MSC utilizes a social justice framework to educate the UW community, support students, and advocate for a more equitable and just campus. We provide workshops and trainings to students, staff, and faculty on topics exploring racial injustice and the dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression. We also organize an annual Social Justice Leadership Retreat and a multitude of Social Justice Speakers and events throughout the academic year.
