The Program Intern supports development and implementation of all USGBC’s West North Central programs including education sessions, building tours, networking and volunteer events and mission-based programs. Responsibilities include speaker/volunteer coordination, venue and event logistics, PR and Marketing, and managing continuing education credits
Internship learning objectives
Interns will interact and build relationships with a variety of environmental focused non-profitorganizations as well as professionals working in the green building field. This internship will provide the opportunity to learn about a variety of green building careers.
Interns will attend the majority of educat ion sessions delivered by USGBC, which will provide learning opportunities on a variety of topics. Interns will learn the process to develop, implement and follow-up education program sessions, volunteer events and other non-profit program activities.
Internship details include
Event planning: Set up registration system, track registrations, prepare event materials, staff registration table, track and submit continuing education credits
Website: Update websites with event information and details
Social Media: Provide daily postings of events, news announcements activities
Newsletter: Assist with writing and editing of weekly newsletter content
Assist with general office duties (no more than 10% per week)

Education & training requirements/preferences
Enrollment in an undergraduate for graduate program. A focus on environmental education or green building is preferred
Working proficiency with Microsoft Office — Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Familiarity with Twitter and Facebook
Experience in customer service or other role that included interaction with the public
Other required skills and qualifications
Comfort with phone and in-person outreach
Ability to lead/facilitate small group activities
Writing and copy editing
Social media experience including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
