Internship - Marketing Intern \u2013 Summer 2021
Position Summary
This is an unpaid internship. Applicants must be able to receive college credit.
Weekly commitment: 25 hour/week
The Marketing Intern will support the Web & Marketing teams in all functions related to social media, public relations, marketing and other projects. The ideal candidate will have an academic focus in Journalism, Marketing, PR or a related field. This position will be remote with regular mentor supervision and learnings with possibility of a few in-person days at our headquarters in the Chicago Loop.
Scope of Responsibilities and Learnings
Create original and engaging content ideas for the Paper Source blog, and execute across other appropriate social channels.
Write two long form content pieces per week; coordinating with photography and design as needed.
Support in the management and maintenance of Paper Source social communities including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube.
Review Yelp presence of each store, completing and improving business listing for all locations.
Build Pinterest boards to promote seasonal product stories and support SEO efforts.
Assist with sample creation and styling to drive Instagram engagement.
Assist with content needs related to email marketing, catalog copy, product descriptions and more.
Coordinate with our Workshops Manager and Visual Team to mine for content that can live online, developing copy and outlining visual asset needs.
Support ambassador outreach efforts, helping to targeting online influencers who can drive interest in the Paper Source brand, both online and at the local level.
Support our Public Relations efforts with administrative tasks including media research, press archiving and communication and pitching needs.
Conduct audits and research as needed.
Qualifications
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; online writing experience preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to perform basic functions within Adobe Creative Suite.
Effective organizational skills for managing multiple tasks at once
Career interest in social media, marketing, PR and/or e-commerce and retail.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and enrolled in your sophomore, junior or senior year at an accredited college or university
Must be able to receive college credit
Must have access to a computer, social media apps, video and camera
Previous internship experience in Marketing and/or Design is a must
Experience using Google docs, social media platforms, Zoom meetings
Experience using Wordpress preferred
