The Undergraduate Intern position is a developmental assignment that provides interns with real-time work projects, leadership development opportunities, as well as involvement in corporate social responsibility. Work projects involve assignments that are relevant to American's current business needs and opportunities.
The DCA Hub Communication and Administration Internship will expose the successful candidate to various aspects of the airport and airline operation at American’s downtown Washington, DC hub. Focal points of the role will be:
Business Administration (day-to-day exposure and support to department procedures)
Process observation, automation, and optimization
Ownership of “MagicInfo” digital communications tool
Support of local DCA AA Webpage
Hub analysis and reporting
Develop station communications and support miscellaneous employee events
Develop Administration presentations
Exposure to peer departments (Tower Ops, Ramp, Customer Service, Catering, Facilities, etc.)
Compensation:
In addition to the valuable business exposure received, the successful candidate will also receive an hourly wage and flight benefits during the internship period.

Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’ DCA Hub Communication and Administration internship focuses on providing participants with real-world business exposure, on-the-job training and the ability to move around the department to experience various airport business functions. Characteristics of the successful candidate are:
Working towards an undergraduate or degree with coursework in a communications or generalized business discipline (Communications, Marketing, Management, Business Administration, etc.)
Refined skills with MS Office (chiefly MS Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with software programs used in conducting communications and analysis
Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to assemble information, extract pertinent facts, draw logical conclusions, and present recommendations
Interest in optimization, problem-solving and process improvement
Ability to make independent judgments and decisions while taking ownership of job responsibilities
Ability to work well within a team office/operational environment
Experience in media and marketing
Strong oral and written communication skills
Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check
Travel Required: Less than 5%
