Physical therapist Internship Jobs description

A physical therapist intern performs routine physical therapy treatments according to patient treatment plans under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. A physical therapist intern evaluates and treats patients with a wide variety of disabilities in the in-patient as well as out-patient settings. A physical therapist intern works with patients to identify and improve their movement and function; helps promote their patients' health and well-being; assists the rehabilitation process by developing and restoring body systems in particular the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems; assists a senior physical therapist to devise and review treatment programmes, comprising manual therapy, movement, therapeutical exercise and the application of technological equipment, e.g. ultrasound. A physical therapist intern’s work requires assessing, planning, and implementing physical therapy treatment that is appropriate to the patient's needs. A physical therapist intern observes and report on the condition, conduct, and progress of patients to the senior physical therapist.


A physical therapist intern requires pursuing a course on physical therapy (BPT). A physical therapist intern must have an ability to receive oral and written communication and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary. A physical therapist intern should have fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination. The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics, are essential for a physical therapist intern.
